Chi Alpha Youth Ministries

Theme Verse

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. –I Timothy 4:12

About us

Our youth ministry is called Chi [kai] Alpha! This is using two Greek words that represent the phrase Christ is First. We want everything we do in this youth ministry to bring glory to God and to reflect us love to those around us.

Come check us out and get as involved with us as you can!

Why we Exist

Our youth ministry exists to reach the lost, to exalt Christ, and to create disciples of our teens through fellowship, worship, and service.

Sunday School

Sundays @ 10:00 to 10:45am
We meet each Sunday morning in the SCBC youth building from 10:00-10:45. We have separate Sunday School classes for middle school and high school.

Chi Alpha

Sundays, 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Our main youth group meetings are Sunday nights from 5:30-7:00. This is where our teens can connect with each other as well as grow in their knowledge of Jesus. We typically start with a game in our gym, followed by a snack time or hangout time. We then transition to worship and get into our series. These can be anything from a book in the Bible, to discussions on peer pressure and addiction, to a series dealing with relationships at school and home. Then we split the teens up into small groups where they are free to discuss these topics and issues with our youth team leaders.

Events and Activities

We usually have at least one special event, trip, or activity scheduled each month, in addition to our XA youth group meetings. Updated XA calendars are released to the parents and teens every four months. We seek to include multiple service projects into our events every year, and put a big focus on summer camp and mission trips the teens may be involved in.

Upcoming Events During Sunday Evening Chi Alpha:

Sunday, September 10: SCBC Block Party in the Youth Building parking lot. Volunteer to help with Alicia or Pastor Josh.

Saturday, October 7: Rise Against Hunger, a global organization, will be holding a food packing day at First Baptist Church in Grafton.

October 20-22: Fall Youth Retreat at Fairly Baptist Church. Ben has invited us to visit him at his church. We will leave after school on Friday and return after church on Sunday.

5th Quarter Outreach

One of our outreach events every fall is Fifth Quarter. This is a school outreach to all middle schoolers and high schoolers, and we open our youth building and grounds to the kids after home Bridgeport football games on Friday nights. To help with pizza and drinks, we charge the kids $2 for admission. We end the night at 10:30pm.

Youth Team

Our youth team consists of Tawnya Hefner, Jason Dale, Alicia Swiger, Eric Greene, Morgan Belcastro, and Heather Campbell.
